Abstract
Patient satisfaction can be described as a multi-dimensional tool that is used to measure the quality of satisfaction in the healthcare facility, following patient expectations and needs. it aids in helping patients access the level of care they get from their healthcare providers. This study was aimed to assess patients’ satisfaction with radiological services at Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) Port Harcourt. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 200 patients that visited the Radiological Department from May to August, 2024 during the duration of the study. Convenience sampling technique was used for sample selection. Ethical approval was obtained from the Human Research and Ethics Committee of the PAMO University of Medical Science and the respondents consent was also obtained. Data collection was done by the administration of questionnaires. Descriptive and Inferential statistics were used for data analysis. In this study, majority of the respondents were females 101(50.5%), males 99(49.5%). The majority of the patients were satisfied with the following factors, the quality of the x-ray films that were accepted by the clinicians (3.83±0.78), waiting room well ventilated with recreational activities (3.94±1.19), the registration process (3.78±1.09), radiographers friendly and respectful attitude (3.94±1.32), radiographers punctuality to work (3.82±1.34). This study finding revealed that there is no significant mean difference between the occupation of the participants and the satisfaction level obtained from radiological services in RSUTH (F=2.854, p= 0.06). This study demonstrates that a significant mean difference exist between the age of the respondents and the satisfaction level derived from the services (F= 8.768, p= 0.00). A significant mean difference existed between the level of satisfaction obtained from the males (2.71±0.59) and that of the females (2.97±0.71) participants with t= 2.872, p-value= 0.00. The patient satisfaction with radiodiagnostic services at this center is quite high because the majority of patients expressed satisfaction with most of the indices used to gauge their level of satisfaction. The level of satisfaction was not influenced by gender, occupation and educational qualifications.
